AER simplex device
Breaking device STATOMAT is a device of the power electronics for quick and wear and tear free breaking of all the DC and AC motor types. The breaking process begins in soft fashion and has a progressive kind of effect with reducing RPM. The torque is practically zero in the standstill.
In case of abrasive ring armature motors the breaking torque behavior can be changed as per the dotted lines by connecting the armature resistance. The optimal behavior should be determined in this case in empiric fashion.
There are two setting potentiometers-Breaking intensity and breaking time - integrated in the device:
The starting command is given by the NO-Contact of the mains contactor. If this contact on terminals 2 and 4 of the breaking device is connected then the breaking is prepared, if it opens afterwards the breaking takes place. This starting command is fed to the logic using the Optic coupler, the primary group of which is supplied by the controlling voltage. Because of this the starting command can also be given by the contact devices, which activate the mains contactor (Terminals 4 and 1 parallel to the mains contactors).
All the breaking devices with the type accessory...../E can be started via 24 V instead of NO-Contact between the terminals 3 and 4.
The logic of this breaking device is constructed in such way that the breaking contactor moves some 600 ms after switching off the motor, the thyristor is ignited after next 400 ms. This introduces the breaking phase. If the set breaking time is expired then firstly the thyristor is blocked and after next 1500 ms the breaking contactor falls. As the breaking contactor accordingly is switched as current less, a normal A.C. contactor can be driven up to its 1 – 1.5 times of Ith-value.
Switching times given above can be changed and also shortened at random. However additional measures should be taken under circumstances (Short circuit, compensation circuit). For this purpose we provide special applications on demand.
The breaking circuit is to be executed strictly according to our application circuits. Especially abidance of both the locking discs between motor and breaking drive is utmost necessary. It is to be observed further that the control voltage of breaking device and the breaking contactor are not supposed to be discontinued by external switching components during the breaking action. By no means should the introduced breaking action be interrupted by switching the breaking contactor. If any breaking action should be interrupted early then a connection between terminals 2 and 4 of the breaking device should be created. This ends the breaking action in regular fashion, whereby it is to be observed that a new breaking action is introduced after opening of this connection.
It is possible to stop many motors at random using a central breaking device. Due to the large number of possibilities we create plant specific special applications as the case arises.. In this context we would like to refer to our STATOMAT-Distributor system, which is also described in the following.
The size of the breaking device can be determined with the multiplication factor, which becomes clear from the supply voltage plans. This factor to the motor rated current is valid with 50- and 100-Hz Motors. With 200- and 300-Hz Motors the required breaking current is increased with further 60 %. It is to be considered here that even rated currents of these motors are extremely high at generator voltages of 165 V.
The device can be charged with its maximum effective current value up to breaking duration of 20 seconds. With longer breaking timings and multiple breaking actions within one minute a reduction of effective current value is required under circumstances. In order to achieve the optimal design kindly specify to us the details of availabilities at your end.
We require following specifications if the device is supposed to be designed by us:
Mains voltage, controlling voltage, frequency, motor performance, rated current of motor, rated RPM, desired operation time and eventually available run-up time switching frequency, control mode (Direct start, Star-Delta start up, reversible operation, Pole reversing, Dahlander (tapped winding) pole reversing, and many more things).
